The Friends Of Burford (FOB) is the PTA for Burford School and its remit is to help organise events and raise money for the children at Burford School. It is made up completely of parent volunteers, who generously give their time for the betterment of the school.
Friends Of Burford run many successful events each year that are in and around the school. They have helped to provide the school with much entertainment, equipment as well as significant infrastructure such as flooring, play areas, equipment and facilities.
Along with Playing Fields Committee, FOB helps to put on one of the highlights of each summer, namely "The Rose Carnival" an extravaganza and local fete. This has been highly successful for many years and has helped to raise considerable moneys. Because of this success, when the idea of putting on a joint fireworks show was discussed, it was well supported. The key elements for such an event were all in place, namely the safety of using school grounds for the spectators, separating them from the launch site. Plus the expertise and manpower required for such a big event was available from both organisations working in harmony.
A better match could not be found and so this jointly organised event - Marlow Bottom Fireworks was born. There are many to thank for the conception of this event, but special thanks must be given to FOB Chairperson - Angela Batten as well as the Deputy Chairman - Richard Moss. Their selfless and tireless efforts have helped to turn the idea of such an event into a possibility.
